Our top priority: Health, safety and environment

Since 1971, Gastier’s health, safety and environment policies have evolved over time, rapidly propelling the company to the position of industry leader in construction in Quebec. Every day, we invite all our employees to adopt a proactive behaviour to always outperform standards, regardless of the industry in which we are. Only a safe and responsible environment can lead to working more than 800,000 hours a year and still report an annual incident rate amongst the lowest in the industry....

As health, safety and environment leaders, we have opened our own training centre to teach the best practices to our employees. We are really proud for our expertise in HSE to be certified by the Ministère du travail, de l’emploi et de la solidarité sociale. This agreement allows us to deliver more than 10,000 hours of training each year. In addition, both the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (CNESST) and the ASP have recognized and certified our training centre.

More specifically, our approach is based on evolving health and safety standards, from project planning all the way until project completion:

  • Meeting with the client before starting the project, to identify and agree on expectations and requirements to follow.
  • Rigorous analysis of daily risks.
  • Regular inspections by senior managers.
  • Implementation of processes and secure methods to protect workers.
  • Weekly or biweekly communications with the whole team.
  • Regularly updated training sessions.
  • Meeting with the client at the end of the project to identify opportunities for improvement in our practices.

We are proud of the results obtained over the years and this success stems from the hard work of our workers and partners.
